It’s October 1st! That means that it is time once again for Horror And Sons‘ annual Halloween Horrors Reader Submission Series!!
After starting off our series last year, I felt it only fitting to let our friend from Recycled Horrors start off events this year! The reason that I chose to kick this off with their piece is because it starts the month-long celebration with an idea that is not only a practice I follow myself (with some adjustments), but one that I assume most horror fans and Halloween lovers alike partake in: Personal Horrorfests. The seasonal barrage of horror and Halloween-themed viewing that each of us partake in this time of year. Some of us may limit it to one night. Some may just stick with whatever is on AMC or TCM. For some, like myself, our personal Horrorfest started a couple of months back.
Whatever approach you take to your own Halloween season viewing, it’s become as much a part of the holiday as trick-or-treaters and scary costumes. It’s become part of the tradition that we share with friends or even our own children. It’s just another part of the magic of Halloween.
RECYCLED HORRORS PRESENTS: THE 5TH ANNUAL 31- DAY HORRORFEST
Welcome back for our 5th Annual 31 Day Horrorfest.
Last year, we chronicled the roots of our annual viewings on Halloween night. We’ll keep it simple this time and unfurl this season’s roster with only a minimal note on a sub-tradition.
Milky Way Midnight Candy Bars:
No screening is complete unless we have a candy bowl full of these in front of us. They are our Halloween treat of choice & they pair perfectly with a cold brew.
Now, on to the show!
Each year we put together a 31 Day Horrorfest. Each night follows a theme and we do our best to include different and unique entries as opposed to the regular staples – of which we watch regardless of the time of year. This year’s roster includes:
